Astronomy Pictiure of the Day
One
of my loves is science fiction. Good science fiction has a basis in
science fact and the desire of people to reach out and understand
things greater than themselves. This site provides a daily does of
science in the form of a picture and an explanation of
something to do with astronomy.

DendroBoard
When
I was keeping frogs, this was the place to go for
resources. There are hobbyists of all levels and they all have one
thing in common - Dart Frogs. This site is run on PHPBB and is a
fantastic gathering place. There are forums for just about everything
frog and vivarium (terrarium + animals) related. There are discussions of
hardware, plants, substrate, etc... Well worth the visit.

Denver Zoo
I’ve
visited zoos around the U.S. and this is one of my favorites for several reasons:
- The
horticulture group works very hard to create tropical exhibits and it
shows in the fantastic results
- The animal
collection is large and very well cared for
- They are
constantly looking for ways to improve the lives of the animals. Their Predator Ridge exhibit is
an example of this

Mountain Vision
This is a climbing
and adventure outfitter. One of the owners introduced my wife and me to a very well
known blind climber who gave my wife her first lesson in using hiking
poles to "see." We are planning a trip with this company in July. These guys are
fantastic with an attention to detail unparalleled!

Nvu
Nvu (N-View) is the WYSIWYG HTML
editor used to author this site. Originally I had created this
site using QuarkXPress Passport, but I wanted a site that was vision
impaired friendly and that required little effort on my part to maintain. The only
complaint I have with Nvu is that the HTML it generates is rather ugly. |

Starship Modeler
I have always enjoying
seeing the
ships of science fiction.
When
I was twelve, I waited in line to see the original Star Wars IV.
(yes, I am that old <sigh>.) I later saw Star Trek IV. Shortly
afterwards
I visited the Monterey Bay Aquarium (Cetacean Institute in the movie).
There was a Star Trek exhibit that included the Klingon Bird of
Prey model used in the movie. I have an appreciation for CGI
and
the skill required to do it well, but studio models will always impress
me the most. This site is where I get my near daily fix of models built
by professionals.

Tandem Cycle Works of Colorado
My
wife and I were fortunate enough to get a tandem bicycle a few years
ago. We have put quite a few miles on it and just love it! Riding
single bikes is nice, but there is something special about a bicycle
that truly requires team work between the captain and the stoker. We
purchased our bicycle from Tandem Cycle Works of Colorado. They are
awesome! The owners are very down-to-earth and passionate about tandems.
Their enthusiasm carries over into every aspect of their business.
